My mini vacation
Well, lucky Frank escaped for a week to Colorado! So mom and I went down to Austin for a few days. Definitely not the same as Colorado, but a nice change of pace none the less. I had lots of time to crochet, which was nice since I'm on a time crunch for finishing up a gift. Here is what I worked on. I think I am about a quarter done. This is my kool aid yarn, with the Babette four round granny square. I'm loving it!
Since I was in a yarny mood I made a point to stop in Hill Country Weavers to pick up a ball of Noro Kureyon Sock yarn. I bought this Spring Ripple Scarf Pattern a while back and am looking forward to starting it. I got the yarn in the color pictured here. The pattern only takes one skein, and it self stripes, which is great.

Crochet Inspiration
I went to a yarn shop in Fort Collins called My Sister Knits. It was around the corner from the Fry's house, and in someone's backyard. I really didn't expect it to be a full blown yarn shop with a great inventory but it was. I bought a skein of Noro for another planned Spring Ripple Scarf. I also got inspired by this blanket that they had as a sample. It was just a giant granny square made of Noro Sock yarn. Well, I can't afford to make one out of that, though I would love to, so I found some superwash in great colors on Elann that inspired me. Of course this is just a plan, I have no idea when I will be able to start this, and I have plenty more projects in mind.

Proof of productivity
Here are some pictures of what I have been working on the past week and a half.
I have had plans to make this Noro Spring Ripple Scarf for months and finally got started. I am totally in love with this yarn, now I see what all the fuss is about with Noro yarns!

I made a few more squares for the Skipping Stones Afghan. I can't make anymore until I get the rest of the yarn colors that I need, so this is on hold for a while.

Crochet mania
I finished the Noro Spring Ripple Scarf that I have been talking about since June. I bought the yarn in June and finally got started on it a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE this yarn! If you haven't ever used it or seen it in person you have to get your hands on some. I have heard people complain about working with it because of the thick and thin quality of the yarn, and the fact that it is a bit rough. Neither of those things bothered me, in fact they make me love it even more. It is a silk wool blend, and sock yarn thickness. The tonal variations are amazing. Just love it! By the way, this isn't for me, and I'm not telling who it's for. It is my secret, for now.
Speaking of crochet, I just discovered these new additions to my friend Kim's shop Tiny Hearts. I love the large, bold feel of the neck warmers, and how they can be worn as a capelet as well!
