It's Here!

Mom got me this beautiful hand hooked rug by Anna Maria Horner for my Birthday. It arrived yesterday and I am so excited about it. The colors are perfect for our bedroom and I love the traditionally crafted rug with a modern and graphic pattern. I am a big fan of Anna Maria, and now I'll really have to get some of her fabrics to make pillows for our room. Thanks Mama!
I'll take pictures of it in the room when I get it all put together. It is almost there, I also got a bedskirt for the first time. So exciting!

A great night

Last night was our annual ladies get together. These are my oldest and closest friends. Two in from out of town and two who I just don't see often enough. I had a wonderful time catching up with these girls, and I'm so glad we still do this. We are going on ten years since graduating from college.

I also discover a band last night. Our friend Moses is on tour with Blitzen Trapper, doing sound for them. They put on a great show and I had a blast. Check them out.

Ashley and Lena

The Jingle Bash at Sons of Hermann Hall this past Saturday turned out to be a huge success. Thanks so much to Etsy Dallas for putting the event on! Also thanks to my mom for coming and helping us out.

I met some great vendors, including Rat Trap Press of Fort Worth, Cut Out and Collect (bought a pouch from her), Soapopotamus, and many more.

Chihiro Makio

Chihiro Makio is another new friend that I met at the Atlanta Contemporary Jewelry Show. Chihiro is based in Boston and her business is called 314 Studio. When Lena described Chihiro's work to me I knew I had seen it, and when I saw her booth at the show I realized I was right. I had seen her work in Austin and in Boulder, Colorado at Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery. I absolutely love her work, the shapes and matte metal combined with the tiny glass beads really works for me. Above are some pieces from her collections, top is the Mimosa Brooch, followed by two pieces from her Orange Collection.

Hair cut

I got my hair cut today and am super excited about it. I haven't had it this short since Frank and I started dating and that was nine years ago! I think having it shorter really shows off the curls. If you are in the Fort Worth area you should go to Lux Machine and see Diane for a hair cut, she is the best!

Big Honor

Geb Gold Ring by Masaoms

Some of my new work has been featured on the blog 18kt. This is a great honor as this blog features incredible art jewelry from all over the world. The blog is in Spanish, I believe, but the pictures are worth looking at. The author Marta Sanchez Oms is also a talented jewelry designer herself. Check out her Etsy and Website. Her ring is pictured above. Thanks to 18kt I just discovered the beautiful work of Patricia Tschetter whose earrings are pictured above. Can you believe that Patricia is based in Dallas? What a small world!

Gift to myself

Last week at the Atlanta Contemporary Jewelry Show I purchased these earrings as a birthday gift to myself. They are by Jamie Cassavoy, one of my new favorite jewelry artists. They are so dainty and girly, I'm really enjoying them. The colors are perfect for me as well. Jamie's jewelry is botanically inspired, very wearable and she uses minimal, but well placed touches of color. Jamie is really friendly as well, which is always refreshing when meeting someone so talented and successful.

Birthday pics

Mom and dad came in to town and took us out for El Salvadorian food at Glorias. Mmmm! We had a great time as you can see. Check out mom's birthday post about me. She included a baby picture. I so wish I had a scanner. By the way, that piece of paper I'm holding in her pic is of the rug she order for me from Anna Maria Horner. Very exciting and I can't wait to get it.

Frank was so sweet and came home with these roses. He also got me the boots that I have had an eye on. They are brown suede Born boots and supper comfy. Now I just have to stock up on cute socks, tights and skirts to sport with them.

Photos of New Work

My creation

I am really excited about my new photos. I started these pieces for the Texas Metal Arts show. After the show got canceled I put them on hold, but have finally finished and photographed everything.

More Atlanta Pics

This is my favorite photo of the trip, taken by Sara's sweet husband Hans. We all had dinner on Friday evening even though we were exhausted it was a great time.
Danielle Miller in her booth. She has a beautiful display, all curvy and cool. Not to mention that her work is gorgeous and impeccably crafted.
We had breakfast at the Waffle House one morning. They are everywhere out there. I think we past three everyday on our way from the hotel to the show.
I neglected to get photos of Chihiro Makio and our neighbor, artist Jamie Cassavoy, in their booths. However, I will be sharing their work soon as they are two of my new favorite jewelers!
