I'm going on a road trip! My friend Lena Marie Echelle invited me to go with her to the Atlanta Contemporary Jewelry Show. Fellow Etsy Metal member Danielle Miller is also participating in the show. I am really looking forward to seeing Danielle's work in person and getting to know her. In addition I will get to meet a few more Etsy Metal ladies from the area, Sara Westermark is making the trip down from North Carolina, and Beth Cyr, Delias Thompson and Alicia Istanbul all live nearby.

Thanks Lena for this opportunity! I am really looking forward to the trip.

A perfect day

I had been looking forward to Sunday for a week. Our Japanese gardens in the Fort Worth Botanic gardens had their annual Japanese festival this weekend. We made plans to go on Sunday along with a trip to another favorite place, the Cattle Barn flea market. The Japanese festival includes demonstrations of dancing, drumming, painting, a tea ceremony, bonsai, ikebana, food and more. All of this is timed really well for beautiful weather and the beginning of the leaves changing color.

My favorite booth at the flea market.
I collect feather birds, but these were unframed.
Frank in the cattle barn.
Score of the day. Haeger vase for $5!
Koi pond in the Japanese gardens.
Japanese Maples.

Bamboo grove
Beautiful Maples
Frank and I in the gardens.

What a lovely day, thanks Frank!

T Shirt LOve!

I know I have said it again and again, but I just want to scream from the rooftop, I love Harrilu shirts!!! I spent the day Saturday helping Megan, the lady behind Harrilu, at a show in Richardson. While I was there I picked up a couple of her wonderful shirts. What is so great about the shirts you ask? Well, Megan designs and prints them all, so they are handmade and local. As if that weren't enough, she uses the best quality, made in America cotton shirts in great colors and cuts. And above all, her designs and colors are just perfect. Have I said enough? You can see me in my brand new shirt above, I feel so cute!

Megan and I also discovered that we attended the same tiny college in Arkansas, Hendrix. We lived in the same dorm, on different floors. How crazy is that, such a small world. Thanks for being so awesome Megan. I hope I was of help to you.

2000 + Hearts

Well, I had been watching it creep up for a while but forgot to check the last couple of weeks. Something jogged my memory this evening and when I went to look I was over 2,000 hearts. Very exciting indeed!

New Obsession

I have become obsessed with searching through Decor8's flickr favorites. Found via Real Simple, I am finding lots of great and inspiring new flickr contacts. I love the search and there are a mix of great images, from home interiors, travel and nature, portraits, artwork. Take a look.

Brrr, its cold here! Probably colder inside my house than out in the sun. It was 44 degrees when I got up this morning and the dogs didn't even want to go outside. As you can see I bundled them up, don't they look like sweet babies?! I am also bundled up in my clothes with a robe on top, thick chenille socks and house slippers. I don't mind the chilly weather as long as the sun stays out. I better go out and enjoy the sun today.

New Ring

I am so in love with this ring that I may have to keep it for myself! I love the colors, the weight and size of it, everything. I will be listing it in my etsy shop, but possibly as a custom listing since I might just give in and hang on to this one!

I added a few new pieces to the shop today, and will do so tomorrow as well. I have been quite productive this week for the first time in a while. It feels good to get new work finished. Don't forget for every $20 that you spend in the shop through November 15th you will get entered for a chance to win my Reversible Charm Necklace. So shop on!

Piper Ewan Flowers

I did a trade with Kirsten Moore of Piper Ewan designs. These sweet little flowers can be worn as pins or in you hair. They are even more detailed and beautiful in person. The colors are intense and gorgeous and the bead details really set them off. Kirsten is obviously talented, and lives in one of my favorite places, Portland, Oregon. I love her tag line, Piper Ewan, girly girl fashions. Who could resist?!

Day at the zoo

Originally uploaded by ashleyjewelry
I spent a day at the Fort Worth zoo last Friday with one of my oldest and bestest friends, Susan. Her mom and two of her three kiddos were there as well. I had such a great time. The weather was perfect and it was great to spend time with old friends who are really more like family. Too bad days like that don't happen more often.

Pacesetters Holiday Bazaar

I will be helping out Megan of Muttsy Wonder at the Pacesetters Holiday Bazaar this Saturday. The show is Saturday and Sunday at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson. Please stop by and see how Rad Megan's shirts are. I will be modeling my favorite shirt for sure! I hope to see you there.
