Yes, I am addicted to that afternoon coffee buzz. Norsola of The Muses Jewels posted a coffee recipe on her blog a while back, and that inspired me to do the same. I just discovered a new yummy coffee recipe that I want to share. I use an instant espresso for my coffee fix. I know it sounds weird, but it is really yummy, quick and easy. I tried something new and added it straight to almond milk over ice. It is so yummy, creamy and luscious!! There is also a chocolate almond milk that I plan to try next. Its pretty fool proof, and could probably be done with regular instant coffee as well. Just pour 8-12 oz of almond milk in a glass and add your instant coffee drink of choice. Stir well and add ice. Mmmmmm.....

Attention Readers

I'm having a contest. I've been wanting to try this for a while now, and just came up with a plan. I came home to a wonderful shipment of gemstones, pictured here. It was like Christmas morning unwrapping and sorting everything. Some of the stones will be listed in my supply shop, and many will appear in my designs. So here is the contest, the reader who comes closest to guessing the total weight of my stones in carats will win a piece of my jewelry. Please post your guesses as comments. You have one week to guess, and I will announce a winner next Friday. If you don't have no idea just take a wild guess!

Good luck everyone.

I'm Back

I'm back from Austin feeling refreshed. Austin was wonderful, although hot. But hey, its over 100 degrees here as well, and Austin has Barton Springs which I took full advantage of. We stayed in this wonderful little bungalow in Travis Heights and I was ready to move in. I just love that neighborhood. I did a lot of walking around and exploring.

This painting was hanging in the house, and I really loved it. I couldn't stop staring at all the details and found her face to be mesmerizing.

I got this great vintage white ceramic piece at Uncommon Objects on South Congress. Total score, I'm in love with it!

Mom and I couldn't resist a stop at our favorite garden shop The Big Red Sun. It was wonderful as usual.

I'm Off!

Heading down to Austin for a quick break today. I'm taking a little jewelry to work on, but mostly plan to relax, window shop and swim. Yay! I'm really looking forward to a cool dip in Barton Springs. I'll be back on Thursday and back to work.

Birdies for Birdie

One of my best friends had a little girl named Birdie back in January. I had been wanting to get the baby a pair of these wonderful slippers from Piddies on etsy ever since. Well, I finally did, and what could be more perfect for a sweet little girl named Birdie?! They were a big hit with mommy and big brother too. Here is the pair I got. They are so clever, the bottoms even have little bird feet embroidered on them! And what cute packaging.
She also makes goldfish slippers, lots of cute birds and even adult sizes!
So if you need a wonderful baby gift Piddies will be a big hit.

Well, two weeks really. I finished this batch up on Tuesday and have been so busy I haven't had time to post it! I'm making progress on my show inventory, which feels great.

I'm working this week on new pieces for a local show that I have on Sunday. Stay tuned next week as I will add some of those new pieces to the shop.

Petal Pendants

I'm excited about these new pendants. I had been wanting to make pendants to go along with my petal earrings for a while now. There will be earrings to match these pendants soon as well.

Currently in my etsy shop I have these single petal earrings available.

Moxie and Oliver

I received a wonderful package in the mail yesterday from Moxie and Oliver (great name by the way). Moxie and Oliver is handmade and handpainted leather goods made by the super talented Caitlin McNamara. I picked a clutch with removable strap in her ginger pattern. It is a lovely light green and I love that it can be carried several ways.I also stumbled upon an open treasury yesterday and love the results.
I featured metal, fiber and more includingConnie Akers, Xenotees, SarahHoodJewelry, Stitchindye, Asymmetry, NinaGibsonDesigns, MoxieandOliver, SaraWestermark, WildflowerDesigns, Tuizui, SarahMinshall, and UniquelyNancy.

So Excited!

I had been admiring
Ann Jenkins' jewelry on flickr and her website for quite a while. Finally I put two and two together that she is also the woman behind Tuizui and is a fellow Etsy Metal member. Both lines of work are wonderful, I love the color and texture of her enamel pieces, but her Fragments of Nature series really stole my heart! In addition, Ann is super friendly. I am having a pendant made and Ann read my mind when she told me it could be made with my own treasures. The pendant will be similar to this brooch, though smaller.

I am sending Ann these treasures of mine to work into the pendant.
Future Treasure Box Pendant

They include a piece of coral from our honeymoon in Belize. A piece of apatite rough, as well as opal rough. The opal rough came from a little jar of the stuff that my grandfather kept by his chair. I always admired it and he gave it to me when I was a child. Finally, is a beautiful boulder opal that I purchased recently. I just love the color combination and it reminds me of the ocean.

Here is one of Ann's wonderful enamel pieces.

Trying to Keep Cool

So it is hot here, really hot. I worked outside this morning and am now trying to stay cool indoors. Here are a few things that are helping, at least my mindset.

I came across this photo in the Australian magazine Houses at Borders the other day. It set me on a new obsession of having a plunge pool. Our current yard probably isn't big enough for even a small pool, but I like to keep ideas for later. Wouldn't you just love to take a dip in this pool?!

Also, I think I'm going to cut my hair off, actually I meant to make a hair cut appointment earlier and got sidetracked. My hair stays in a ponytail or bun constantly and hasn't been cut in an embarrassing year and a half! I'm going for something like this:
Shhh, don't tell my husband, I think I might surprise him!

Here is what my hair looks like now, so it will be a big change. I plan on donating to Locks of Love.

Here are some bright summery earrings that I just added to the shop.

Great News!!

I am currently the featured artist on the Indie Pretty Perfect blog. Helen of Pepperina Press runs the blog and asked me to do an interview a while back. It was a lot of fun and I'm really excited to be a featured artist. Pepperina Press is fun, bright stationary printed on eco friendly paper, check it out. Thanks Helen!

Here is what I've been doing...

I know, I have been MIA, here is what is keeping me busy. I made all these pieces last week. I still have to clean them, but I'm pretty impressed with myself. I am getting ready for the Texas Metal Arts show in September and have a long list of inventory that I want to have on hand. This is the first batch, now if I can only stay this busy!
